DCMT PG RESEARCH WORKSHOP
This year, we successfully concluded our annual postgraduate Research Workshop last week. The workshop spanned over 2 1/2 days and provided an invaluable opportunity for our Part 2 residents to develop their research proposals. This event has proven to be instrumental in reducing the time students spend in the program, enhancing their research skills, and fostering a culture of scholarly inquiry.
Throughout the workshop, we facilitated numerous presentations on a wide range of topics. These presentations included insightful discussions on crafting effective research titles, conducting literature reviews, and critically appraising existing studies. We also delved into the intricacies of setting research objectives and employing appropriate statistical methods, ensuring our residents gain a comprehensive understanding of these crucial elements.
To complement the theoretical aspects, we conducted practical sessions in the library, equipping our participants with hands-on experience in conducting literature searches. These sessions empowered them to navigate research databases effectively and find relevant scholarly resources to inform their work. Additionally, we dedicated time to teaching the art of developing a robust research protocol and delivering compelling presentations using PowerPoint.
Overall, the Research Workshop served as an enriching platform for our Part 2 residents to strengthen their research skills and refine their research proposals. By providing a holistic approach that combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, we ensured that our participants gained valuable insights and practical tools to excel in their research endeavors.
